Air Lift Bags
Just had air bags installed on my F250 Super Duty to help smooth out the ride and eliminate some of the squatting when towing my Blue Ridge 3025RL.
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this addition. I have a pin weight of approx. 26oolbs. And was curious about what psi to run in bags. Have not had the opportunity to pull trailer with bags installed yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Air Lift Bags
We have an automatic system on ours that adjust the heights. We ride higher than I would like and I can't adjust our. With yours I would hook up and than just add air until you are at the height you want.

Re: Air Lift Bags
Jim, thanks for the reply. I had the bags installed yesterday and did not have the automatic compressor put on just yet. (monetary limitations) but plan to do so soon.

Re: Air Lift Bags
If I had to do it again I would not get the compressor, just add air as needed. We're on our 3rd compressor and it make it hard to hook and unhook because you have about 30 seconds and the compressor kicks in and will adjust the height. Just my 2 cents.
Again have fun with your new toy.

Re: Air Lift Bags
I have the Firestone Airbags with the compressor so I can add air anytime as I need , when they installed the airbags they disconnected the auto fill feature. Maybe you can still have that done.

Re: Air Lift Bags
I had the airlift air bags installed on my 2005 Ram 3500. I did not get the compressor installed. I usually add about 25 lbs of pressure. I find that the pressure holds and I have never had to adjut the pressure while on the road. I find that it is easy to add or ajust pressue without the onboard compressor.

Re: Air Lift Bags
On my 2000 Dodge I ran mine at 18 psi with the trailer on and down to 10 when not towing the Cardinal. I had one side that would loose air and had to be monitored closely so if I was to do it again I would add the compressor.

Re: Air Lift Bags
I had air bags with manual fill on my F250. My pin weight was 2200# and I used 35#.

Re: Air Lift Bags
With 2600 lbs. pin weight it can take up to 50 PSI to level the truck if sagging in the rear.
The good thing about having a on board compressor is you will need to remove air when unhooked and fill when hooked back up to travel.
My 2005 F350 SWD would require 45-50 PSI in the bags with 2600 lbs pin weight.

George,
That's a lot of pin weight for a F250. Without the F350 overload springs like you had, he may need more than 50#.

That is a lot of pin weight and he may need more air in the bags to level the truck out but he should be OK putting more in as needed.
dc471 you need to start taking all those can foods and beer out the front closet.
